Free In June
Lincoln theatre company, Rough Magic, celebrates its new season with a kick-off festival entitled Free in June. Free in June, held at the Loft at the Mill June 25th-28th, will consist of free readings of original scripts, culminating in an auction and fund-raising event on the evening of the 28th.

Scenic Trauma by Robert Stewart
Monday, June 25th - 7:30pm

Scenic Trauma centers on the lives of two characters, Sherman and Donna.  In Stewart’s words, “Sherman is a massive man (at the center of the world). Donna is the girl next door (to the center of the world). Neither one is going anywhere (but they're headed for a collision).”

The Ledge by Amy Lanasa
Tuesday, June 26th - 7:30pm

Lanasa, a native of Texas with Lincoln connections, says “Tom, Ramona, and Dickie are all artists who've hit a rough patch and are squatting in an abandoned building.  When Madeline, Tom's sister, shows up out of the blue, her presence threatens the rocky harmony barely holding the make-shift family of artists together.”

Morality and Sex or Two Things In Life You Can't Get Without Trying by Axel Arth
Wednesday, June 27th - 7:30pm

Arth's describes his piece as “a collection of four original short plays dealing with, as the title suggests, love, morality, and the choices we make on a daily basis.”

Gala Fundraiser
Thursday, June 28th - Doors at 7:00pm

This exciting week of readings is followed by a Garden Party themed fund-raiser, featuring a night of improv, eating, and auctioning.  Local artists have donated work for this event and pieces span a range of forms from paintings to jewelry to textiles.  Food will be catered by Jim Larson and the improv show headed up by Rough Magic member, Ben Tibbles.

All readings begin at 7:30 and are free, though donations are welcome.  For the fund-raising event, the improv runs from 7:30-8:30, the raffle will take place at 8:45, and the auction at 9:15.  Tickets are $20.00 and are available by calling (402) 617-9814 or emailing info@roughmagicproductions.org.
