Rough Magic Productions is a theatre company whose mission is to use a collaborative, nourishing atmosphere to produce new works of theatre that balance culture and counterculture, responsibility and risk, relevance and timelessness.
Rough Magic Productions was formed in 2001 by three University of Nebraska graduates to create shows that would reflect their artistic values of collaboration, inventiveness, and passion. Although it has a thriving arts scene, Lincoln did not have a company focused on new, original and experimental works. Rough Magic dedicated itself to just such works, both because we believe they are important and also to draw new audiences to the theatre. Rough Magic has always been a collection of student and professional artists, a combination that keeps the company vital and open-minded.
