Matthew Landis has been surrounded by music and theater his entire life. Born into a family with vast musical talents, Matthew has nurtured a love
for all types of musical expression. An admitted music junkie, Matthew
has been a musical performer since a young age. A turning point occurred at
the age of 13 when he, along with his sister, cousin and some friends,
decided to stage a production of Really Rosie at the Antelope Park
Bandshell. After
that summer, Landis started participating in music and theater programs at
school and during the summer. More recently, Matthew has been a featured
performer in many productions at the Lincoln Community Playhouse (LCP)
including roles featured roles as a hippie outcast, serial killer, military
captain, tortured musical genius, an out-of-work steel worker and a couple
of biblical figures. Landis has also been a lead vocalist for local cover
bands including his current gig with The Learned Project.
As an ardent supporter of the arts, Matthew runs an e-mail list that
highlights local arts events including theater, music, dance, art shows and
other creative entertainment (landisarts.com/propagandART/). “I believe all
of life’s questions are answered in the arts,” says Landis. “The pool of
talent in this town is truly inspiring. Our local art scene constantly
amazes me. There are so many great projects that don’t get the exposure
they deserve. But that’s not why I started the propagandART e-mail list. I
did that to provide people with as many excuses as possible to get
together. I believe in building a strong community around the arts. I mean,
what’s better than surrounding yourself with your closest friends? Any
excuse to make that happen is a good one. And if you can support the local
art scene at the same time, that’s even better!"
